Sami and Maus baby girls went off to thier new home together and both had a try out at showing this year. Both girls have had a really great start, doing incredibly well at their kitten shows. Both girls have had best of variety kitten and overall section four wins and Boudica managed to win overall best in show in January at the tender age of 15 weeks! We are very proud here and happy for their owner! Its been a difficult year and of course all shows have been stopped in light of the current pandemic. We really do hope to see them both out again and doing well in 2021.
So much has happened here at Aroanui Devon Rex since my last update!
Maus became a Supreme Grand Champion and also gained a Regional Win with Tica this year. He became a GCCF Grand Champion and has since achieved three Imperial Certificates winning Several Best of Variety awards along the way. Matilda was born to Fleur and Maus in 2017 and stayed at Aroanui. Our fiery, dramatic little red head! Whats not to love. Kiki and Maus had three beautiful babies, Ottilie, Maya and Valentino. Ottile has since grown up and had a family of her own! Three gorgeous kittens. Making Kiki a Granny and Maus a Grandpa! Samsara arrived in 2018 all the way from St Petersburg in Russia. She is a most welcome addition to our family and we love her a lot. I collected her myself from Tallin, Estonia (it was sooo cold!). She has since become a Tica Champion. Samsara and Maus later became parents to three stunning kittens, Anoushka, Babooshka and Reuben. Reuben stayed with us. We simply couldn't bear to part with him! He's had a great start to his show career. At the Rex Cat Club Show in 2019 and at just 15 weeks old he was awarded the honour of being Best Devon Rex in show. He also had a great start at TICA. and became Best Devon Rex Kitten for the region of Western Europe. At nine months old and at his first adult show he became a TICA Champion. We are so proud of our home bred boy! Anyway... here's a picture summery of the last couple of years and the fun we've had at Aroanui. Maus attended his first adult show at 9 months and 1 week old. He was awarded his first CC
(challenge Certificate). Open Class - Self or Patterned, Black or Brown Devon Rex Adult JUDGE: Mrs L Stevenson 1st Cc Ms S Aroha, STANREX BLACK MINNALOUSHE, (DRX ns (33a36) A black smoke male of good type with long slim legs and tail. With a short broad muzzle, well pronounced break with a firm level bite. Nicely placed large ears, nice coat evenly waved, super temperament and lovely to handle. AV BSH or FOREIGN NON-CERTIFICATE ADULT. STANREX BLACK MINNALOUSHE. Male. 9 months, 1 week Super type to this promising young man who has some rather strange bald patches on the backs of his ears. Short broad wedge set on a slender muscular neck has quite a strong muzzle with well-defined whisker breaks & short stubbly whiskers. Profile shows flat skull at forehead & between ears, stop to fairly short nose could be rather stronger, shallow receding chin & level bite. His well-shaped ears are lovely & large but could be slightly lower set for perfection. Gorgeous golden orbs have that naughty Devon expression. Just adult & looks it, bless him, but he’s of good size with a slender muscular body of good weight with a nice broad chest & stands tall on sturdy muscular legs with neat oval paws, good tail is well covered. Fabulous coat to this handsome lad is short, fine & dense with a lovely soft feel & is very well rexed – he has just a few guard hairs on his rump that give a harsh feel but hopefully these will moult out. A real charmer shown in good condition. I wish him well. Our first attempt at a TICA Cat show and didn't he do well!
We took Maus to his and our first TICA Cat show. We really enjoyed it and Maus had a successful day. He finaled in two rings and achieved 3rd best shorthair kitten in both against some really tough competition. His judges had some lovely things to say about him. Well done Maus! We had a really excellent day at Ettington Community Center near Stratford Upon Avon. Maus attended. Maus was awarded 1st place in his Kitten Class, he was awarded BOB (best of breed) and then went on to win BOV (best of variety) Devon Rex Kitten! Such a clever boy whom were incredibly proud of.
1st & BoB Ms Aroha’s STANREX BLACK MINNALOUSHE (Imp) DRX ns M 19-02-201 JUDGE: Mr J S Harrison An attractive very well grown lad of 71⁄2 months, of very good overall type. Head of good shape and type, well balanced. Large ears of very good shape with wide base, well set with good width between; for perfection I would like to see the outer corner set just a little lower. Top of head flat, brow curving to a good stop and short nose. Short broad wedge with well placed cheek bones. Muzzle of good shape with defined whisker break. Even bite, firm chin. Oval eyes of very good size and correctly set. Lovely slender neck. Body of very good type, well grown for age, medium length with excellent firm muscular feel, just tending towards being euphemistically ‘well-fed’! Coat short and dense, well covered overall and showing ripples over the body and tail. Overall the coat is very soft to the touch, but there is a small amount of guard hairs along the spine line. An attractive lad, well shown and with a delightful temperament, well deserving of the BoB. |
